"It wasn' t ME" strikes again

We had a recheck visit at the pulmonologist/sleep specialist office to see how Gabriel is doing post T&A removal.  How has Gabriel been post T&A?  Well, he still snores when sleeping though it is not as loud.  He still rolls all over the bed all night long.  He still does not get a lot of sleep when he is "sleeping".  Other than that he is doing amazing!

To combat Gabriel's snoring he will be getting a nose mist to help clear out his sinus's each evening.  Two puffs in each side.  I thought this was going to be the worst thing every.  Gabriel does not like to be messed with very much.  So I went at it like it was something fun.  He was playing and I went over and quickly did it in one side laughing.  He began laughing and quickly it was fun.  By the time the fourth spray came up he put his the sprayer in his nose all by himself.  Thank God!  Gabriel can sure put up a fight and I don't know how it would be to do this each night before bed if that was the case.

The doctor thought that maybe Gabriel was so restless because his iron was low.  To check this the had him have a blood draw.  Sure enough, today I got a call at work and his iron is low.  Gabriel will be starting iron pills when the pharmacy and the doctors office can figure out what end is up. (More about that in a moment).  A side effect of iron pills is constipation.  I cringed as the doctor said this.  We have a constant problem of constipation and to add a medication that will cause more problems worries me.  Hopefully we can even it out with MiraLAX.

So when I spoke to the doctor today about Gabriel's iron results she told me about the iron medication she wants him to take.  She wanted him to take an iron pill.  I had to inform her that the pill would not work very well for Gabriel.  She kept insisting I could crush it and put it in to strong tasting food.  GRRR, Gabriel does not like eating enough to trust him to eat anything with medication in it.  I have to be able to hide it in his bottle.  I asked if I would be able to hide it in a bottle of milk and pediasure.  She said that the iron pills have a strong taste and it would most likely just make the bottle taste bad.  I asked if there was a liquid form so that I could figure something out for Gabriel.  She said she would call in a liquid form.  I guess she forgot by the time she got around to calling the script in.  Lucky the pharmacist is a friend of ours and she knew that there was no way Gabriel would take the pill.  SO she will be calling and working on a script for the iron medication to be in liquid form.

"It wasn't ME" was up to its old tricks again today!

  2. Just wanted to say...not that this would work for sure, but Blackstrap Molasses is an excellent source of iron. Also, does he take some sort of pro-omega oil and probiotic? Those would also be helpful in the digestion part of life. Best wishes. I know this is not easy and you are maintaining a positive outlook. That was excellent about the "fun nasal spray".
