updates

These last few weeks have been busy doctor appointments for our family.  We are trying to get as many things in before I go back to work.  School will be starting up VERY soon.

Gabriel started at his new pediatrician on Monday.  We are beyond excited for this pediatrician!  Gabriel is doing amazing over all.  We do have a few little worries.  Poor Gabriel had to give a lot of blood to make sure we are on top of things.

Gabriel was tested for lead again.  The first time he was at a 6 and the second time he was at a 9.  We are hoping to see him lower this time.  If you have never met someone who was exposed to a lot of lead as a child I hope you never have to.  Lead poisoning can cause some very serious developmental and neurological problems.  I have worked children who have had severe lead poisoning.  Gabriel's Levels are not very high but any level of lead is too high!

We had to do another CBC to make sure that Gabriel's white blood cells are doing what they need to be doing.  Gabriel was born with a condition that made him look like he had leukemia.  The Hematology department of Devos wants to supervise him closely to make sure that his condition does not turn into leukemia.

Gabriel's doctor went ahead and had them check for celiac's disease while they were taking blood.  Celiac often is a problem with children with Down syndrome.  The doctor wants to rule out Celiac in Gabriel's issues with eating.

We are checking something to check this thyroids.

I believe that is all of the tests they needed to run on his blood.  Gabriel cried when four of us held him down to get his blood drawn.  As soon as we let him go he laughed and danced for all of the ladies.  He even waved good-bye to them as we left.  I wonder how often they can say a child walks out as happy as they walked in, even if there were a few tears in the middle?

Gabriel has a ear, nose and throat doctor appointment tomorrow.  We dont see the doctor for his sleep apnea until August 30th... Um, that is my first day back to work.  I have already blessed the new principal who was hired yesterday with an email asking to be able to run out to the doctor and back to work.  Gabe will have to bring Gabriel down.  And so the school year starts.

Isabella is getting stronger and stronger every day.  She is standing up and surfing the couch or whatever toy there is that she can pull herself up on.  She is babbling more and more as well as eating real food.  Isabella is only 6 months old as of today.  WOW, where has the time gone.  I constantly try to remind her to roll around and enjoy being a baby, she wont get that time back.  She has no interest in listening to me, she would rather take off and play with her brother.  She is now copying him on a regular basis.
