tears

I went to a high school graduation open house today for a "little" boy I babysat for over 15 years ago. I brought Gabriel with me. I remember Travis running around his house wanting to imitate a professional wrestler. Which translated into he wanted to beat his babysitter up. I use to make Travis go outside and run around on his families 18 acres with me. He gave me his artwork that he had given his mother earlier in the day. He gave me a plastic ring. He was a cute little kid when he wasn't trying to kill me.

I have kept in touch with Travis off an on over the years. If not directly, through my mom who was a secretary at the local middle school and now at the high school. His family came to my high school open house and wedding reception. His mother came to my baby shower and brought a special gift that Travis had picked out for Gabriel.

Travis has grown up to be a fine young man. He is planning on attending MSU in the fall! So he is also a smart young man. He is planning to become a forensic pathologist. Anyway, Travis asked to hold Gabriel and held him for over a hour. It brought tears to my eyes. He of course is more than welcome to babysit my little man anytime he wants!

Gabe's bike race

Gabe said that this video should have a disclaimer due to the fact that the music played is Rage Against the Machine - Know Your Enemy. It does not contain swearing but it is harder music that I would normally put on the blog.

summer is finally here for me!

Two weeks left until summer break. We had an amazing weekend at my parents house. We drove down there on Saturday afternoon. We took the time to pick the house up Saturday morning before heading out! Thank goodness!

Saturday evening my mother and I went to visit their next door neighbor. I grew up with this family's children. They have been asking about Gabriel whenever they see my parents. We had a nice visit with them.

Sunday morning Gabe and I went to Gabe's bike race in Detroit. Grandma watched Gabriel. Gabe did a very good job! I will post video up as soon as i am finished editing it. He won his class! He got a medal which Gabriel has taken as his own. Gabe also won a drawing. He won a $110 jacket. Sadly it was a size medium, I now have a new jacket! I love it.

We left this morning around 9am. We managed to miss most of the traffic!

We picked up our child bike carrier this weekend while in Detroit. We got to go for a bike ride today. We rode to my in-laws house for lunch and back. The carrier puts Gabriel to sleep almost seconds after he is put into it. It has stroller attachments. I cant wait to use them!

The boys have had such an exciting day that they are napping right now.

lost

Sorry it has taken me so long to update the blog. Lets see what is new?

Gabe had a softball game in Grand Rapids on Saturday and a bike race in Detroit on Sunday. We decided to go ahead to my parents house on Saturday to see them and to cut the drive Sunday in half. They of course were extremely excited to see Gabriel.

Gabe's bike race ended up being flooded out and rescheduled for next weekend. So we will be spending next weekend down in Lansing as well. Grandma and Grandpa Hubert will watch Gabriel during the bike race to save the little man from being in the sun all day.

Today Gabriel had speech therapy. My little man weighed in at a whole 13lbs and 6oz!!!!!!!! He has been doing so well lately. It took a week hospital visit to get on a upward slope but it is amazing how good he is doing.

He is starting to sit up completely on his own for short periods of time!

Everything is positive in our house right now! Gabriel is doing so amazing!

cardiologist

We had a cardiology appointment today. It was at 11 so I was unable to attend which drives me nuts but Gabe and Dr. Florentine were VERY good about writing me notes.

1. Gabriel is officially over 12lbs. The official weight is 13lbs and 2oz!

2. Everything is looking good!

3. Gabriel gets to stop taking Duiril as of today at 6pm!

4. In two weeks we will begin to decrease his intake of aldactone. He will be off of the aldactone a week later.

5. Our next appointment is not for another 4 months! They do want an update phone call once a month.

truly blessed

This evening Gabriel and I went to Meijer to grab him some sippy cups. His speech therapist believes it is time for him to begin having them around. We have sippy cups with straws and sippy cups without. He sure likes chewing on them all! Silly little guy. Anyway back to my story. I have Gabriel in Meijer and he wanted to talk to everyone and everything. He had most of the store there watching him carry his little conversation on. They all though that he is the best thing ever;) (he is of course). What a cutie pie!

My first mother's day as a mother was wonderful. Gabe and Gabriel made me some art, pictured below. The weather was nice and we were able to get some yard work done. I put some of my pictures up finally... here they are

busy week!

We have had a busy week at the Purdy houes. Gabe had softball Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They won all of their games by a lot. This will most likely be Gabe's last softball season, so he wants to go out on top;). For those who don't know Gabe will be having surgery on both shoulders once things are calmer.

Gabe had surgery on his left shoulder last year in July. We decided to get it before Gabriel was born so that he should be mostly healed for Gabriel's arrivial. Sadly surgery went WAY wrong. When doing microscopic surgery there is a pump that pumps water through out the area to keep it clean so that the surgeon can see what they are doing. The pump broke during Gabe's surgery, his shoulder filled with water. There was a chance Gabe could have lost his arm. It was a whole mess. Needless to say they were not able to repair the labrum. Gabe will need to have surgery to repair that and to fix other damage caused by the water. Due to compensation his right arm (which was fixed four years ago) is in bad shape and will require surgery.

Gabriel on the other hand is doing AMAZING. He is putting a little meat on his bones. I don't realize how skinny he is until he is around other infants. He is so amazing! I was watching him sleep last night and got so lost in thought. He is such a strong little boy. We are truly blessed!

softball

Gabriel and I went to Gabe's softball game tonight. Gabriel is such a good little man. He just sat there and laughed at his daddy. The game was over in a quick half hour. Daddy's team won, always a good night when that happens.

Things are going great here. Gabriel gained 3oz this last week. He is now 12lbs 10oz!!!!! Way excited!

first mountain bike race

Gabriel went to his first mountain bike race to watch daddy. Gabriel of course made googly eyes at everyone to make them all think he is the most beautiful baby every. He is of course;).

Daddy took 4th. 2nd and 3rd tied 30 seconds in front of Gabe. First place in Gabe's division finished only 32 seconds before Gabe.

We had a lot of fun!

prescriptions stink

It has been one month since the last prescription fiasco. I thought this month would be better. The prescription bottle said that the bottle could be filled after 04/24/09 and that there are 6+ refills before 03/31/10. On the label it says there are 72 doses in the bottle, so the bottle should last... lets see 72 doses divided by 3 doses a day is 24 days of medication. There is already fault there because the medication can not be filled before a complete month is up (30 days). Lucky they have a little more in there to get us to this point.

Anyway on with the story. I went into the store yesterday to get the medication refilled. They couldn't refill it of course. According to their computer I can not refill it because "Plan Limits Exceeded - check qty, days supply". WTF? I though everything would be smooth after last months whole drama.

Gabriel has to have this medication therefore I told the lady to go ahead and fill it, not billing the insurance. We would pay for it and contact the insurance to correct whatever is going on. Now we are $186.89 shorter. It is not a huge deal but it sure makes things tighter around here. Of course they will put it back into our account once I track down what is going on with the insurance. Most likely someone "clicked the wrong button" just like they did a few months ago when they "accidentally" cut my insurance off. oops.

Heaven knows that whenever I call the insurance company I get the run around. I wish the pharmacy and Insurance company would talk. In fact I think I am going to head to the pharmacy right after work on Monday and call the insurance from there so they can chat together instead of getting the run around. If I do that someone will need something from the doctors office as well and I will still get the run around.

Sorry about the pity party but I am so upset that I have to deal with this stupid stuff each month to get Gabriel the medication he needs. I cant imagine being someone who has even more medications to take on a regular basis, I can barely deal with Gabriel's five.
